the end and the beginning

This was not a good week for the animals at TGR exotic. We had a Red Kangaroo put down and two hairy armadillos die.
We found Rachel, the Red Kangaroo, thursday morning. She smelled like death, was drooling something fierce and had a HUGE bump on her neck. We put her in a crate and took her to Texas A&M (the near-by University but it is our "vet"). I don't know if you remember but we had another Kangaroo that had a similar problem. She was also put down. Well we got to Texas A&M and we told them that if it required a long term treatment that it would be better to put her down. Rachel was an old kangaroo, 14 years old, and they usually live to 10. We didn't think she had it in her to go through treatments. So we said goodbye to Rachel and left.
The next Wednesday, yesterday, we found our two brother Hairy Armadillos dead. It was so sad. They were so cute and fun. We think they died from over heating :( We overnighted them to get a necropsy done.
But then on Saturday night we had a delivery! Two baby cappys! They are so stinking cute and make the funniest beeping noise!
This is a picture of our current female capybara, Chip! She is still growing. But it's crazy to think about how they go from being so little to getting so big!
So thus is the cycle of life at TRGE.
