Ssssslacker

So it's only been 3 months from my last post, but honestly there hasn't been that much to blog about. Just working my two jobs, eating sleeping, you know the necessities of life. But I did have a wonderful break from it all, I got to go back and visit my home away from home... Texas. It was sooo good. Just to get a breather, to be with people I miss and love, and to be in the wonderful heat and humidity! This trip back to Texas was a little different than the past ones, I wasn't going back to work I was going back as a tourist! And I have to say that I did LOTS of touristy things. Here's a rundown of my trip :)
After working at Walmart Tuesday night to Wednesday morning (29) I was ready to go to bed but instead I finished packing for my trip! I was leaving that morning and couldn't have been more excited. My sweet Dianne and Kristin dropped me off at the University to catch the Salt Lake Express down to the airport. - Just as a little side note I LOVE my sisters. They are sure growing up and are so much fun to be with.-  The bus ride down to the airport was different than I expected. I thought I was going to be able to catch some zzzzs but there was no way that was happening. It was full with happy people going to visit family or heading to a business trip or on vacation and all of them loved to talk! It was fun to get to know people and hear their life stories. But that did come to an end, I made it to the airport with plenty of time to people watch for a good long while. I saw some cute families, returning missionaries, children who look like they have missed their naps and have been traveling too long, and some old ladies! These cute ladies were in wheel chairs waiting for the same plane I was. One was eating cheese and crackers, that she had pulled out of this multi-colored bag that looks like she made, and leaned over to the other one and asked if she would like some. It was so sweet, they didn't even know each other but they talked as though they grew up together. Anyways I finally got on the plane, hoping to get some sleep on there. But of course I didn't, I sat next to a mom holding a little baby girl. She was tooo cute but none to happy to be on the plane. So much for sleep that day but I didn't care because I was in Texas!! I loved walking off that plane to the heat and the smell of the thick air. I was supposed to get my bag and meet my friend Amanda C. on the curb to pick my up from the airport. I was so excited waiting for my bag and thinking of the week to come, not paying attention to the people around me when she surprised me! Ha she had come into the airport to get me and I couldn't have had a better reaction for her. After getting my stuff and heading to the car we drove to El Palenque. We were meeting up with Amanda F. Laura Maggie Abby and Stayce to eat some yummy food and to catch up. It was sssuuucch a crazy night and it seemed to never end :) after we closed the restaurant down I stayed with Amanda F. at her house. There wasn't much sleeping happening that night, we were too busy talking about TGRE (where I worked with her and she is still employed there) and the new man in her life. (30) Amanda F. had to work at 7 that next morning so I went with Amanda C. to her house. We weren't quite sure what to do since our plans feel through for that morning but after being there for a while I convinced her that we needed to go Horseback Riding!! So we did. We found this place close to her house and took off for a nice ride.

After learning the basics, although I already knew them, we headed out on these beautiful trails in the woods. I would have taken some pictures but I kinda dropped my camera 5 minutes into the ride, and my sunglasses, but that doesn't matter. After getting back I decided that I need to purchase a horse. I loved it! We had to hurry back though because Amanda C. had derby practice! I went to two of her practices when I was living there and I loved watching them skate, plus I love the girls on her team so I had no problem with going to watch them. The only problem was that I hadn't slept at all Tuesday night and only had a couple of hours last night so I pretty much fell asleep watching them play :P needless to say that I slept very well that night and slept in for a nice long time that next morning. (31) That next day we headed to Galveston! That meant Sun Sand and Water! I got to go with all three of my besties, Amanda F. Amanda C. and Laura!

We bummed around on the beach for a while. The picture is of Laura and I in the water, which was wonderful, and Amanda C.'s foot in the bottom right corner :P And then we went to Pleasure Pier which is an amusement park on a pier over the ocean. It was so much fun, although Amanda F. and Laura weren't up to riding rides, Amanda C. and I rode our hearts out! After feeling like we were going to puke or our head was going to explode we decided that it was probably time to head back. On our way home we stopped to eat at this cute little place called Jus' Mac. It was a complete restaurant for macaroni and cheese!

It was sooo good! I love mac and cheese so it's probably a good thing that I don't live closer or I would be there all the time! After a long day in the sun and riding amusement park rides I had another wonderful night sleep! (1) Saturday morning I went with Amanda C. again to her derby practice and then we headed to her Grandparents house. We stayed at their house when we were driving to South Carolina in December for Christmas. I love her Grandparents. They remind me a lot of my Grandma and PopPop Althouse. Some of it may just be that Amanda C.'s grandparent live on a lot of land in the woods too but they were just so sweet, just like mine :) But we went swimming in their pool, looked through old photo albums, watched a cowboy movie, helped them put 1000 cat fish in their pond and we went out to eat that night where I had my first taste of fried oysters. If you have never had them, you aren't missing anything! The taste was gross, the texture was gross, the sound of you chewing them was gross, yeah I am not a fan of those. But the two days we spent up there was good. (2) We headed back Sunday afternoon because Amanda C. had a derby bout! I was so excited to see an actual game. And I loved it!

I would never attempt doing derby, I'm not very coordinated on roller skates and there is a bit of a size difference between me and the other girls playing, but I loved that I could be there to support my friends and cheer them on. I love these ladies!!! After the bout we went out to dinner with the other team and just chilled and talked about the game. That night went a little differently than I thought it was going to, I was supposed to stay the night with Aamanda F. but she got stuck working late, which I COMPLETELY understand having worked there myself, but it was still a good night and I was looking forward to the next day. (3) I got to spend the majority of that day with Laura. We went out to lunch, got our nails done and went shopping. She is such a sweet girl, always there to talk to and I'm so glad that we had a mutual friend so we had the chance to meet! After a relaxing day with Laura, Amanda C. and Sarah some derby girls and I went  to Christian Skate Night! Now I consider myself a decent rollerblader but rollerblades and rollerskates are two COMPLETELY different things. But I eventually got the hang of it, after embarassing myself and falling flat on my back. After skating we met up with another Sarah Amanda F. Laura and Maggie for dinner at Jason's deli. Haha oh boy we always have way too much fun when we all get together :) (4) Six Flags and San Antonio day!!! I was so excited and for good reason. I was going with Amanda C. who loves roller coasters just as much as I do! And it was a wonderful day for riding rides. We spent the majority of that day riding rides and making our self sick. After that feeling of going to explode set in we decided to head to the Alamo.

I was dieing of heat when we got to the Alamo. Of course we didn't have any water but lucky for us there were cute old Mexican ladies selling snowcones that looked amazing! So i got one, but unfortunately there was sooo much syrup on it that it was kinda gross, but it did do its job of cooling us off! After walking around the Alamo and reading all the plaques we went to The River Walk on the Rio San Antonio. To get the full effect of it we took a boat up and down the canals and got taught about the architecture and the history of San Antonio. It was so much fun and I also got to see a couple places where they filmed the wonderful movie Miss Congeniality. We walked up and down the river a little bit. I was amazed at how beautiful it was! I can see why it is such a tourist spot. We had a hard time trying to decide what we wanted to eat for dinner, everything smelled amazing. But as soon as I saw Marble Slab there was no question what I wanted! Amanda C. is a good sport and just goes a long with whatever so that's what we got for dinner! I got the best most sugar-filled icecream cone ever. It was wonderful!! We continued walking and people watching as we eat our icecream. After another fun filled day of sun and rides we were ready to crash, and we did :)
(5) We drove back to Houston, took a power nap and then that night we met up with Laura and Amanda F. for my first Baseball game! Thankgoodness Laura and I had previously bought me my first Astros shirt :)

They won! They have been having a horrible season, but for me they won. Ha I can't say that I'm an avid baseball fan but I sure did love the company! I think we were laughing and talking the entire game and none of it was really related to The Astros. It was hard sitting there seeing the end of the game coming closer and closer, not because I didn't want the game to end but the end of the game menat I had to say goodbye to Amanda F. and Laura :( It was so hard to leave them but after a couple hugs and some tears I promised them that I wouldn't stay away too long. (6) My last day in my lovely state of Texas. It was a sad day, but I did get a pick-me-up for lunch. Amanda C. and I went to Sonic! I used to get Sonic all the time when I lived in Texas :) I'd always get a Grilled Cheese Sandwich and a Strawberry Limaid easy-ice. But the dreaded time came for me to go to the airport. It was so sad not knowing when I'm going to be coming back and seeing my besties or when I'll be able to be in the Texas sun again, but I was so happy to be able to take a week off work and take a little trip down here. I miss you texas and all the people in it!!!
oh gosh, sorry it turned into such a long post!
