On Thursday February 3 kids got sent home from school early, businesses closed, and road were getting shut down. There was a storm coming and possibly the chance of snow. Everyone was excited :)
Rain or shine, snow or hail, weekends or holidays animals need to be taken care of! So rather than driving around in the storm tomorrow morning i stayed the night there :) and had a grand old time!
I played with a hairless cat named pooh, cuddled with baby baboon (which was thee cutest thing) and was a jungle-gym for a 6 month old spider monkey all before dinner. We ate dinner and then headed out to the spare bedroom. We decided to watch a movie and finish some valentines day decorations we had started earlier. Well the movie that was chosen was "Zombieland" which was rated R. Now i had decided a long time ago that i wasn't going to watch R rated movies. I had stuck to that decision this far and wasn't going to break it now. It was so hard to say that i would rather not watch that movie, but i did and was so glad that i spoke up! Instead we watched "Karate Kid" but ten minutes it stopped working. O well, we just decided to stick to the decorations and talk instead. It was so much fun to get to know Gwen and what makes her the way she is! We finally finished decorating and decided to go to bed around 1 (because we did have to get up early the next morning).
This morning we woke up to find everything covered in ice! Now that was something new to me! no snow... but ice everwhere! it was seriously everywhere! you could literally go ice skating on the grass :) and i did! I had a grand time! It was also funny to see all the animals on it walking or should i say sliding around :) Sindu the Bengal Tiger was loving it! We put sand down for the animals to have some traction and continued on as if it was a normal day, which it was; it was just really cold! Now i know that sounds stupid, saying Texas is cold, but i was freezing outside! It is a different cold than what i am use to, different from the dry Utah winter. It is a humid cold here! It stings your face and goes right through your coat!
Well that was today... cold icy and fun :)
Not many people can say they have had a sleepover at the zoo. What a memory!
